On September 1, 2021, The Trinidad Aguirre-Armenta Foundation for the Arts has awarded an inaugural grant to RISE Wellness & Therapy, PLLC to expand on their work with survivors of trauma through art.
In a full circle moment, Trini Armenta was originally the nanny of Vanessa Morales Lopez, LCPC, Founder and Clinical Director of RISE Wellness & Therapy, PLLC. Vanessa often said, "Trini completely changed my life as a child. She taught me everything from how to read, write, dance, play the piano, sew, craft, and even to walk. Most of my firsts were in her care. She inspired my love of learning, crafting, art, and the library. So much of who I am was shaped with her."
Vanessa went out to say about her clinical work, "In order for a client to feel safe in sessions with you, you have to show up in the session as your genuine authentic self. So much of who I am was shaped with Trini. I am honored to be the first recipient of her grant and to continue my work in her memory. It is exciting to know that her legacy will continue on in this way."
Vanessa has stated she plans to use the grant to expand her work with survivors of trauma incorporating Sand Tray Therapy and utilizing art in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy Services.
